Grizzly Snorkel Instructions

This snorkel is intended to reroute the tranny exhaust tube that is currently under the rear rack. The snorkel was custom done by me. I used generic pool flexible tubing. It is commonly used for things like a pool vacuum line. You can get it any any pool shop and most hardware store. Home Depot has it in both their plumbing and pool departments. I also used a 3 inch to 2 inch rubber coupler and a 1 1/2 inch PVC 90 degree elbow fitting both of which I found in the Home Depot plumbing department. The only other thing I had to find was something to hold it up under the front racks. For this I went to a pool supply store and bought a vacuum hose screw on fitting. This is on the end of every hose of this type in a pool store so that you can plug the hose into a vacuum.

Remove the rear rack and rear plastic trunk cover. There will be a 10mm bolt that will need to be removed that holds the stock snorkel in place. Then unscrew the band around the elbow closest to the belt housing. You should now be able to get the snorkel out of the quad. Remove the stock rubber elbow from the stock snorkel. Then take a hack saw and cut about 1 inch off the end of the stock snorkel so that you can put it back into the end of the stock elbow. This is needed because the stock elbow is such and odd size and it needs support under it so it wont colapse. With the plastic band indse the stock snorkel, shove the rubber elbow into the 3 inch side of the rubber coupler. This should be a very tight fit. Once that is in place, tighten up the band around the coupler to make a tight fit. You will need to seal that connection with some Plumbers Goop and let it dry overnight.

Next take the pool hose and fit it into the PVC 90 degree elbow. You will need to seal that connection with some Plumbers Goop and let it dry overnight.

While those are drying you will need to remove the rear brake air duct. There are two 10mm bolts that hold it on. One is in the left rear wheel well and easy to get to. The other one us up on the top of the duct. I had to take off the battery strap, the plastic battery cover, and flooroboards so that I could bend up the fender enough to get some tools up in that tight space.

Once everything is dry you are ready to feed the hose through the quad. You will want to feed the hose from the back of the quad. Install the stock rubber elbow on the back of the belt housing. Feed it until you just have the PVC 90 degree elbow at just the right spot to plug into the two inch side of that 2 inch coupler. You will want to snake it like the pictures show. Once you get it into the front fenderwell you are free to take whatever path you want. I didnt find any great way, but I basically went up to the right side of the stock snorkel.

You will need to cut a new hole in the front for the snorkel to go through. Take off the front rack and black front plastic to expose where the snorkel will come up into. You should probably use a hole saw to make your cut, but I didnt have one so I just used drilled. When you have the hole where you want, feed the hose up through the hole and take out any slack that may be in the hose. Then I cut it to the right length and installed the screw on pool hose connector. This makes it so that it wont slip back through the hole I cut. You will have to cut the top of it off as its too long.

Once you are done dont forget you will need to tighten up the band on the 2 inch coupler in the rear and seal the connection between the PVC 90 degree elbow and the 2 inch side of the rubber coupler with some Plumbers Goop and let it dry overnight.
